Meet our final BCDC member spotlight of 2021, Sarah Magaziner ’10 MD ’19! As a pediatric resident, mental-health advocate, and dancer, Sarah has had her hands full this year.
A native of Bristol, RI (famously home to the nation’s oldest continuous 4th of July parade), Sarah concentrated in Psychology as an undergraduate, and returned to College Hill for her medical degree. She moved to DC amidst the pandemic to do her residency in Pediatrics at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, with a focus on adolescent medicine and mental health. “Residency is busy but I’ve been working on a passion project on the side.” she tells us. “I was recently awarded a CATCH grant through the American Academy of Pediatrics to create a socio-emotional learning curriculum for pre-adolescents at risk for poor mental health outcomes in DC.”
Outside of her residency and curricular development (and occasionally sleeping, we think), Sarah seeks out balance through long walks or hikes, which double as a means of exploring DC. “I like trying new restaurants, going to yoga and dance classes and exploring book stores and museums now that they have opened back up!” she adds. Favorite spots thus far include Kramers, the Georgetown Waterfront, the Glover Park Point Chaud for coffee and the occasional crepe, and the area’s many farmer’s markets.
Sarah enthusiastically notes that she is “always open to recommendations, new friendships and adventures. If you’re interested in getting in touch with Sarah, or nominating another amazing alum for a 2022 BCDC member spotlight, email us!
