Brown University is at the nexus of generating scholarly research that illuminates the often hidden structures and forces that shape our world—then transforming this knowledge into meaningful societal change.
At this special event for the Brown alumni community, leading Brown scholars will discuss the work of two of the University’s preeminent interdisciplinary research centers: the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (CSREA) and the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (CSSJ). The centers’ innovative approach to knowledge creation weaves rigorous academic research with artistic endeavors and humanities projects that engage people in reflection and dialogue about race, slavery, and the unjust legacies impacting our present. Through these endeavors, CSREA and CSSJ are helping to shift our societal narratives, creating paths of understanding that make a more just world possible. We hope you will join together with other Brown alumni as we delve into the complex issue of race in our society, open our minds to new ideas, and expand our own knowledge on this critical topic. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions following the conversation. Registration will open in early January. |
