The Brown Club of DC is excited to present a special book talk with Josh Levin (’02), national editor at Slate and the host of the sports podcast, “Hang Up and Listen”.  Levin’s newest book, The Queen: The Forgotten Life Behind An American Myth, tackles the myth of the “Welfare Queen”– beginning with the riveting life of Linda Taylor, who was the first person assigned that moniker, and whose personal crimes were politicized into damaging stereotypes in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Queen was named a New York Times Book Review editors’ choice selection, and was one of the summer’s Best Reviewed books on Literary Hub.
