Referred to as “the Cannes or Toronto for the green crowd,” DCEFF works to advance responsible stewardship of the environment through the power of film. It’s also celebrating its 30th anniversary with special programming that ends this weekend!
A member of the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative, DCEFF’s reach is wide. It’s most known for an annual festival that in the past has presented more than 100 films each year to over 20,000 attendees or viewers, in partnership with 110 local museums, theatres, universities, and other educational and cultural institutions.
As with so many cultural organizations, DCEFF moved online during the past two years, and as such has taken this year’s festival both digital and international. One highlight: a keynote conversation with the legendary Dr. Jane Goodall, who is being honored with the festival’s Environmental Champion Award. The documentary Jane, based on Goodall and her work, is available for streaming.
Of special note to our local audience, the festival’s closing selection this year is “We Feed People,” director Ron Howard’s documentary about the evolving work of Jose Andres (DC’s favorite chef and global humanitarian) and World Central Kitchen.
